Automotive Service Technician

We are currently seeking a team member who believes in the “extra mile” philosophy to fulfill our Automotive Service Technician role.

An Automotive Service Technician must professionally inspect and diagnose automotive services while delivering an excellent customer experience. They must explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to co-workers and customers. An Automotive Service Technician is expected to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in order to stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology and perform work in accordance with specifications.

What You’ll Do on a Typical Day:

  • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and values of Snider Fleet Solutions.
  • Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, steering and suspension, alignments, basic electrical, air condition, cooling system, computer diagnostics and perform all general maintenance services.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including fluid exchanges and oil changes
  • Visual safety and courtesy inspections
  • Replace batteries
  • Change bulbs, belts, and hoses
  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
  • Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
  • Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
  • Maintain an organized and neat shop.

The majority of this position will consist of normal office tasks and interaction amongst peers and Snider branches. Overnight and out of market travel to other Snider locations and customers is less than 25%. When traveling to Snider locations, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts/equipment, fumes, or airborne particles, and the noise level is usually moderate to high.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Education or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED not required but preferred
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • At least 1 year of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • ASE certifications preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
  • Safety conscious at all times.
  • Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Coachable, hardworking, and possess general mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have strong time management skills, as well as close attention to detail.
  • Reliable and dependable with self-initiative.
  • Ability to complete all tasks assigned properly, with little to no follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to learn and operate provided service equipment and hand tools.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic computer and/or smart phone skills.
